When improving the overall performance of your engine, meaning installing a turbo kit or customizing your engine, the stock fuel system can be compromised and strained due to the need for increased power. The solution is to upgrade your fuel system components to match the power upgrade.
Some of the most common equipment problems experienced without upgrading fuel system components are:
- Fuel Injectors
- Fuel Pumps
- Fuel Filter
The fuel injectors are governed and controlled by the electronic computer unit and the electronic fuel injection system. In essence, this is a nozzle responsible for spraying the fuel into the combustion chamber of the engine. Because the specs for the programming are set up for the stock engine, any improvements will require reprogramming and possibly upgraded injectors to ensure proper performance and full power of the engine.
This is the gateway for the fuel from the tank to the injectors. Much like the injectors, upgrades to the engine may require a higher-level fuel pump.
This is one of the most vital components in your engine. It removes contaminants in both the fuel and those that may build up in the fuel tank. Without the filter, common wear and particles, such as rust and/or dirt, would cause significant damage to all parts of the engine.
Fuel System Component Upgrades
Wehrli features upgrades for:
- Bosch Motorsports Oversize Nozzles Up to 500 percent
- Chevy Cruze Diesel
- Cummins 2003-2015
- Duramax 2001-2015
- Ford Powerstroke 2011-2015
Available Injectors and CP3 Pumps:
- BOSCH Reman CP3 PUMPS ($750-additional $300 core charge)
- Sportsman CP3 Pump ($1,050)
- 10MM Stroker Pumps ($1,995)
- 12MM Stroker Pumps ($2,550)
If you wish to install a CP3 over the factory installed CP4, we offer the LML Twin CP3 Over CP4 Kit ($2,495). It includes:
- Fabricated Heavy Duty Steel Mounting Bracket (powder coated)
- New Exergy Sportsman CP3 Pump
- WCFAB Billet Black Anodized CP3 Wheel and Stainless Nut
- WCFAB Control Harness, Belt, Idler Pulley, High Pressure Line, Low Pressure Lines, and Mounting Hardware
Because there have been significant issues with the stock CP4.2 (used on 2011 and newer Duramax), we also offer a LML CP4 Delete Kit/CP3 Conversion Kit for $649. We recommend using this kit prior to the expiration of the engine warranty because if it fails, the repair costs will be significant.
